Legal advice

If you are of the opinion that your performance evaluation is not justified or you have other objections to make, you should firstly speak in person to the examiner or the Director of Studies. If this is not possible or no agreement can be reached, please contact the Head of Student Administration, Rectorate, to make an appointment for an objective, confidential hearing during which taking the following legal steps and the chances of success will be discussed:

• cancellation request
• reconsideration request
• appeal

Cancellation and reconsideration requests should be handed in to the Prorector for Education. He normally contacts the parties involved for their opinion(s) and his decision on a request is final.

If a request is rejected, it is still possible to lodge an appeal with the ETH Appeals Commission. Appeals to the ETH Appeals Commission, as well as cancellation and reconsideration requests to the Prorector, must be handed in within 30 days of receipt of the decree.
