1. Am I an eligible candidate for a Master's degree programme at ETH Zurich?

There are several prerequisites for a successful application. We recommend that you consult the website on application requirements for the programme in which you are interested.

Please note that adequate command of the language(s) of instruction (German and/or English) is required.

2. Preparing your application

2.1 When can I apply?

You can find all the application dates and deadlines in our timetable.

If you have not yet completed your Bachelor's degree programme you can still apply now and be admitted upon the condition that you obtain your Bachelor's degree before the start of the desired Master's degree programme. In this case it is important that in your application, you not only list the courses you have already completed but also all courses which you are currently taking or which you will still take as part of your Bachelor's degree programme.

2.2 Compile your application documents

The information and documents required for your application depend on your Bachelor's degree and which Master's degree programme you apply to.

3. How do I submit my application?

3.1 Fill in the online application

All Master's degree programmes require an online application. After entering your data into an electronic application system, submit your application online. Additionally you can pay your application fee by credit card when submitting your application. If you cannot pay by credit card you can choose one of the alternative payment methods.

3.2 Send your written application

In addition, you need to send a printout of the duly filled in and signed online application form to the Admissions Office, including all of the required paper documents (e.g. official transcripts). Please note that your written application must arrive at the Admissions Office two working days after the application deadline (i.e. Monday, 19 December 2011 for the international and Tuesday, 17 April 2012 for the Bologna and the spring 2013 application period, respectively) at the latest.

When sending your application documents, please allow enough time for disruptions in delivery due to natural hazards and the general tendency for things to go wrong at the last minute. Please also take into account that the terms and conditions of many courier services specify a delivery time of up to five days between major cities.

3.3 Late applications

Late applications will not be accepted.

4. What’s next?

Your application will be evaluated during the admission procedure, and you will receive the decision in writing (see timetable).
