All students receive an ETH card. It acts as a visual identity as well as an electronic identity card. The ETH card will be issued for the entire duration of your studies at ETH Zurich. Students also keep it in case of:
Validation
You need to validate your card every semester. After you have enrolled via 'myStudies' for the new semester, you have to validate your ETH card at one of the eight validation terminals.
Please enrol as early as possible and by no later than the end of the second week of the semester.
After enrolment you will receive by regular mail a set of matriculation confirmations, one of which can be used as a substitute for validation.
Replacement
A replacement
for a lost or stolen ETH card is available for Bachelor and Master students from the Registrar's Office
for a charge of CHF 25.-.
You must make a personal appearance at the counter in the Registrar's Office. It generally only takes a few minutes to process a new ETH card (student ID).
