New doctoral students

Eligibility and admission to doctoral studies

In accordance with the ETH Zurich Regulation for doctoral studies, only candidates from other universities whose previous studies are considered to be equivalent to those at ETH Zurich can take up doctoral studies. Supervisors should clarify whether a potential candidate’s studies are recognised before offering the doctoral position.

Registration

Doctoral candidates should fill in an "registration form" for doctoral studies. Please ensure that the form is signed by the foreseen supervisor. Registrations should be handed in at least two months before taking up employment as a doctoral student. Registrations are then checked for eligibility and are either accepted or rejected. Candidates are then informed about the admission requirements they have to fulfil.

Employment

Please contact your future supervisor and the personnel department concerning your employment. The Doctoral Administration Office is not responsible for processing employment papers.
