Deposit copies

You are requested to hand in the deposit copies no later than 6 months after the Study Conference has approved your dissertation (date of Study Conference + 6 months). At the earliest, you may hand them in upon receipt of the provisional confirmation sent to you by post the day after the Study Conference.

It is mandatory to upload the electronic version of your dissertation to the E-Collection. In the interest of data security, you are not obliged to include your CV in the electronic version. If you wish to forfeit the right to publish your dissertation in the E-Collection because of copyright, etc, please fill out the waiver form "declaration of renunciation" (PDF, 95 kB) to ensure that your dissertation cannot be accessed online. You are, however, obliged to upload your dissertation to the E-Collection archive. Only when you have uploaded your dissertation to the E-Collection may you submit the deposit copies to the Doctoral Administration.

Please submit the following to the Doctoral Administration:

• 3 bound copies of your dissertation. One copy must be signed by your supervisor on the first page. (2 copies are for the ETH Main Library, 1 copy is for the Swiss National Library in Berne).
• The form "Submission of deposit copies of the doctoral thesis" (PDF, 80 Kb)
• The preprint of your doctoral certificate which is sent to you by post with the provisional confirmation. Please check it carefully for any mistakes.

Please note:

• The dissertation cover page must be in accordance with this template (PDF, 26 kB). Note that the use of the name "Swiss Federal Institute of Technology" is not allowed anymore. The correct denomination is in German "ETH Zürich" and in English "ETH Zurich".
  
• Please make sure to print the correct academic title on the front page of your thesis. Everyone who has registered for doctoral studies since 01.01.2003 must use without exception: Doctor of Sciences (Dr. sc. ETH Zurich)
• Spiral and wedge binding are not permitted and will not be accepted by the library administration.
• You are obliged to ensure that your supervisor and co-supervisor(s) each receive a bound copy of your dissertation
• It is not necessary to come by in person to the Doctoral Administration Office to hand in your deposit copies. You can submit them by post. Remember to include the relevant documents: the deposit copy submission form, the preprint of your doctoral certificate, and the email confirming the uploading of your dissertation to the ETH Main Library.
